Week 7 Poll Analysis - What Device Online Shoppers Used?

From the previous poll, all respondents answered the same answer, saying that they used desktop or laptop to do online shopping, whereas netbook, mobile web and other devices are not chosen by respondents. This is what has expected therefore it is not surprising at all to acquire such result.

No doubt that every individual or household owned a desktop or laptop for industrial or cosumer use for this day and age. The main reasons are due to the fast pace of Internet and Web 2.0 have been introduced to the generation Y and sooner follow by Z. Most of the activities that people usually do during offline are revoluted to be done online. People do online banking due to the available of brick-and-click banks. People communicate online due to the available of social networking sites. Please imagine that how to avoid the continuous demands toward desktop or laptop which are the most common and traditional devices for online users to access interconnected network? College students, workaholics all owned at least a desktop or laptop for occupation, academic, and consumer purposes.

The method of using mobile web to check the merchandise is kind of inconvenient and insufficient for the online users due to the smaller screen size of mobile device. Thus, mobile web is not using by most of the online users to do online shopping but mostly used by the users who prefer the small and easy-to-carry device. For example, business people who have lack of time and opportunity to stay at office or the people who go vacation. Other than that, mobile web required extra charges from users. Users might face the problem of slow network connection too due to the limited network coverage at the place they located or limited storage space of mobile device.

Besides that, users have neglected the option of netbook mostly due to the reason of netbook is not well-known enough and consisted of specific and limited functionality. More importantly, it is so obvious that desktop and laptop are more accessible than others due to their standard size of screen and faster connection speed which appropriate for users to look through the merchandises and information efficiently. Users do not need to pay extra expenditures for the Internet connection fee due to it was already fixed or free.

To put long story into short, desktop or laptop is the most common, popular, and accessible device for online users to do online shopping. Do you agree?

Thus, sellers can choose to sell the products early in the morning, late night or anytime they like. Second, sellers can choose to sell the product for a certain period of time such as three days, one week, or one month.

Then, low cost has the second high percentage which is 33%. Low cost may due to many reasons but the most important factor is sellers no need to rent a shop or store. Therefore, they can save the renting cost, sales person salary, electric bill, and other costs.

Insecure online shopping resulted in online shoppers consider to quit this trend as their confidence lost. They feel unsure which sites are secure to shop and how to protect their privacy issues online especially for those who are new and not familiar towards online shopping and computer. They rather to remain the traditional shopping trend in real stores and shopping malls as they can observe and judge themselves. 3rd Week Poll Analysis - What is Your Bad Experience of Online Shopping?

3rd Week Poll analysis

This diagram shows the result of the past experience of online shopping. From the results, we can see that half of the respondents received used and low quality products. Can you imagine when you purchased a brand new product but you received the used one. However, this is out of the topic.

Besides used and low quality products, 16% of the respondents experienced over size problem. For example, a shirt or a pair of shoes. I know, this situation is very annoying where you bought something but not fulfilling your needs.

Then, 17% of the respondents do received a damage or spoilt product. This may due to the delivering process or the the manufacture side. What will you do if you purchased an expensive product but it was damaged when you received it? Will you report to the seller or just keep quiet?

Aanother 17% falls to "items do not arrive on time". Sometimes, the seller will mention that products will be on your door step within one week or one month. However, after a period of time, the product still has not reach your place. For beginners, do not be too worry because nowadays the system and quality control are quite good. Lastly, no one selects the answer of "Bad Customer Service" and "Others".

In conclusion, purchase items from the sites that can be trusted, such as a site that your friends introduced. Moreover, do response the problem that you met to the seller. Even though the seller may not reply but still, voice out is better than keeping it.

Hope you enjoy and have a nice day!

2nd Week Poll Analysis - Why Online Shopping?

Above is a pie chart regarding results of second week poll question, " In your opinion, why do you think people love online shopping instead of real store? " There are 8 participants have assisted in voting the poll. The results showed that 37% of consumers love online shopping because it saves energy and time, while there are 25% of consumers vote for research capabilities and lower price respectively. Lastly, there are only 13% of consumers vote for consumer reviews as reference.Surprisingly that nobody voted for the answer of more diverse choices.

Consumers love to shop online just because they think it was save energy and time. This is mainly because of consumers nowadays are all busy with their career. They think online shopping would save their energy because online shopping that just took some of their time to log in the online selling website. They just have to search for their favourite product by just clicking the item and they will get their favourite product in 1 or 2 days.

Another reason people love online shopping would be saving of consumers' money. Why do I say so? It's probably consumers can save the transport fee. We all know that the price of petrol has been increased, same thing goes to public transport. Purchasing products online can reduce the consumption of money.

Besides that, consumers love online shopping because of the lower price of the products. Most of the products that sold online are much more cheaper than the real store. This is because the sellers do not need to pay extra expenditures such as shop rental, electric and water, staffs' salary and others. Therefore, they can provide cheaper price for their products to attract the consumer.

Consumer reviews as reference is the least choice for this week poll question. It proves that people do not take others' opinions as a reference while online shopping. They will have their own opinion and make own decision while purchase online.

Do stay tuned with our next post. Have a nice day..

1st Week Poll Analysis - Shoppers Love Clothes!

Above is a pie chart regarding results of last week poll question, "Which of the following you prefer to purchase the most through online?" 12 participants have assisted in voting the poll. The results showed that 58% of people love to purchase clothes online, while 17% of consumers prefer accessories and others respectively. 8% of consumers choose to buy jewelries online. Lastly, none of the consumers buy electronics.

In my opinion, clothes are favoured by high percentage of consumers due to it categorized as a need and want product that required by everyone nowadays! For example, it doesn't matter if you use the same particular bag for months, or a same necklace up to a year, but when comes to clothes, here's the different. Number of buying clothes is automatically higher than any others. Why? you may feel boring with the same outfit for a particular time, hence you want to look in different styles. In addition, clothes are easier to carry even if it's from online.

Accessories and others come next after clothes. Accessories are favoured due to they can mix and match with the clothes and obviously there are easier to carry too. For example, belts, shoes, bracelets, bags, and ear rings. The other products that didn't specified clearly might be books and Cd's, furniture and household product, mobile devices, hardwares and components, beauty and cosmetics.

Jewelries consisted of only 8% online purchasers, it possibly due to the reason of costly price and consumers do not have enough confidence on identifying the real gemstone or diamond. Besides that, the jewelries market out there is not as remarkable as other fields hence the consumers' demands on jewelries are lower.

In my point of view, there has none of consumers prefer purchase electronics such as cooker, fridge, microwave, and computer through online due to it is heavy and troublesome during delivery and consumers might not know the condition of the electronics too. Most of them have to take time to consider because they are household products. In addition, they have to take risk if the electronics are damaged in the half way of delivery.

In short, consumers tend to buy products which are simple and convenient through online. Do you agree?

In the coming posts, we will talk more specifically about the reasons of clothes attract most of the online shoppers, and some favour websites of e-boutiques. Stay tune and continue to vote for our poll. Your participation is appreciated. Thanks.
